Patrick Wallace, who’s bidding next week to win the Northern Irelkand title for a record sevenbth time as well as contesting three finals in the East Tyrone League, is the inaugural winner of the Mitchells Classic after fighting off a stiff challenge from 15 year old Fergal Quinn.

Wallace won the opening frame by making a century, 101, with his first scoring visit.

But the youngster was unfazed by this and responded by emphatically winning the next three frames, putting his more experienced opponent at the snookers required stage with several reds left in each of them.

Quinn’s best effort during this dominant spell was a run of 49 in the third frame.

The fifth frame proved to be a turning point as Quinn, attempting to clear from 3 reds out, missed a tricky green with the rest.

After a brief safety exchange on the green, Wallace won the frame on the blue and went on to complete a fine comeback win by winning the next three frames with breaks of 62, 39, 50, 46 and 37.
