tyronetimes,

Family information request 01/02/2008 09:55:40
Dear Sir,

My grandmother Lizzie Hughes, from Scotland, took me on holiday to Coalisland on several occasions.
Her father Joseph Hughes came from Coalisland and married Catheirne Taggart - married in Coalisland Roman Catholic Church 1897.
My greast grandfather Joseph Hughes - his father was Patrick Hughes and wife Margaret Devlin, married 1866 in Stewartstown Roman Catholic Church.
My gran and I visited the Campbell family, (half way up the hill from the centre of Coalisland town centre on the right, they had circular window in the staircase, like a porthole) the daughter's name was Colette Campbell).
I remember the bottom of the hill where there was a row of sort of tenements, where my granny's relation, old Ellen lived.
Also at the top of the hill, on the corner block we went to visit the two Bridgets, mother and daughter, near a few shops.
I also remember going to a picture house, not a modern venue. I believe this was around 1964 - 68, but I am not sure.
I also remember going to a chapel which was along a road and I think on a hill.
I am eager to trace my grandmother's friends and relations in Coalisland and make contact again.
I have now lost my parents and am tracing my family.

Thanking you, in anticipation

Margaret,

We may be able to help each other! My great Grandfather, Michael Campbell, was married to Ellen, whose maiden name was Hughes: both of these were from Coalisland, and moved to Motherwell around the turn of the 19th/20th Centuries (my grandfather, Alphonsus, was born in Craigneuk and my father is from Motherwell itself). I recently made a connection in Coalisland with the Hughes/Daly/Eccles branch of the family tree...perhaps it might be worthwhile for us to compare notes?

To Stephen Campbell in response to your comment on my family search. I believe the lady who lived in the downstairs tenement at the bottom of the hill in Coalisland, who my gran and I went to visit, was called Ellen and I believe her surname was Hughes.

At the time I met her she was quite elderly and in fact, had visitors from Canada, French Canadians, two girls, Laura and Angela Hughes, one was aged around 12years and the other around 16/17 years old. Again I believe they were also relations.

I know that the lady Ellen seemed to live on her own then. There may possibly be a conneciton in the family.

Please reply.

Kind regards

tyronetimes,

Family information request 18/03/2008 09:20:34
Happy St Patrick's Day to all - from Canada.
I am looking to find information about John Rutherford of 19 Barrack St. in 1858 who was married to Rosanne ?: had a son Thomas who was born in 1807. Thomas became a surgeon in Derrycrummy.
Thomas had two sons - David John Rutherford who became an M.D. and William who became a J.P.
I am also looking for Thomas Lilburn(e) of 34 Barrack St who had an office as an architect
Later on, my great grandfather David John Rutherford M.D. married Julia Lilburn.
The Lilburns have connections to the Browns and to Miss Alice Brown M.B.E. who died a few years ago.
The Browns were also connected to the Olivers who came to Pittsburgh in the USA in steel mills
I would appreciate any information and thank you in advance.

Snowed in Helen Willcox in Ontario.

Campbell-Mallon, family info request,

England 06/04/2008 19:02:32
I am looking for any information that anyone can offer regarding my great grandparents James Campbell and Sara Mallon(born 1877), from Coalisland, Dungannon. I know nothing of James Campbell's parents, Sara Mallon's parents were Bernard Mallon and Sarah McRory/McCrory.
James and Sara moved to Coatbridge, Scotland about 1900 and had the following children, James, Alice, Charles and Bernard.

I hope someone can help me,

Vez Campbell

I am looking to trace Michael Murphy from Ballygawley Co Tyrone. i believe him to be 50-60years old and still living in the area. I also believe he never married. I contacted a priest in the parish and he would not help me saying that there is no one of that name and age living in the town.

Any help that anyone can provide would be smashing,

Looking for Quinn family in Tyrone who might be connected to a John Patrick Quinn born about 1790 in Donegal.

John was married to Bridget Nancy Murphy, who was born in Leghowney. We have found some Quinn family in Tyrone, but would love to find more.
