A FOSSIL of a sea urchin, which experts believe to be 80 million years old, has been discovered in a Coalisland field.
The find was made by local wildlife enthusiast Francis Hughes during a walk along Coalisland Canal.
The fossil was sent away to a Geoligical expert in Belfast who later confirmed that it was a sea urchin, 80 million years old, of the late cretaceous period.

Historic

This creature was on the earth 15 million years before the Tyrannosauras Rex roamed the earth 65 million years ago. All dinosaurs died out in the cretaceous period.
Are you interested in nature?
Enthusiasts are asked to come along to Coalisland Heritage Centre on April 15th, starting at 7.30pm.
It is hoped to form a new Nature Club on the night.
