Historic site to lend air of cultivation to local gardeners

DUNGANNON people could soon be growing their own fruit and veg in historic splendour, with the Victorian garden at Parkanaur Forest Park playing host to an army of budding Jamie Olivers.
Dungannon Council is investigating restoring the derelict garden, one of the largest in the district, and allocating plots to the Castlecaulfield Community Allotment project.
Spurred on by celebrity chefs, and concerns about climate change and sustainability, there has been a dramatically increased interest in growing your own across the borough.
The derelict garden at Parkanaur, which is surrounded by masses of rhodedendrons, and lies at the heart of the park, is one of a number of sites the council is examining.
