A NATIONAL medical body has responded to criticism from grieving local families over its decision not to recommend universal screening for fatal cardiovascular conditions.
Dr Anne Mackie, Director of Programmes at the UK National Screening Committee, said that such a screening programme was 'not realistic'.

The findings, which have been passed on to local GPs, have provoked an outcry from Dungannon families whose children have died due to undiagnosed cardiovascular conditions.
The mother of Cormac McAnallen (pictured) has warned that more young people will die because of the government move.
