THE regeneration of Cappagh came under the spotlight at a public meeting in the village.
In the region of 100 people gathered in Galbally Community Centre to express their interest in the regeneration of the Cappagh village.
Despite the adverse weather conditions the local community turned out to the meeting to discuss and put forward suggestions for the future regeneration on the village which is greatly in need of social, physical, economic and environmental improvements.
Local residents welcomed leading consultant John O'Neill from Venture I Network who possess extensive consultancy experience within the community, public and private sectors. Mr John O'Neill addressed the crowd with examples of successful case studies of community development from within and beyond Co. Tyrone including sporting, arts, village improvements and environmental schemes. The importance of a need for a village vision, strategy development, planning and listening to experienced communities and villages who have travelled the journey was emphasised to the crowd present.
The village of Cappagh is one of the last villages in the catchment of Dungannnon and South Tyrone Borough Council to benefit from European or other funding resources, demonstrating the need for statutory organisations and bodies to take encouragement from the community
