Travel experts Snaptrip have collated 10 locations and landmarks in Europe which were the inspiration behind some of Disney’s most iconic films.

5. Beauty and the Beast - inspired by Riquewihr, France
The film is set in the quaint village of Riquewihr in northern France, which features cobblestone streets. There are numerous towns in Alsace, a historic region of France, which look like something straight out of a fairy tale.

6. Tangled - inspired by Mont Saint-Michel, France
Disney film Tangled is set on the island of Mont Saint-Michel, a well-known French island and monastery located in Normandy, surrounded by both water and forestry.

7. The Little Mermaid - inspired by Chillon Castle, Switzerland
The setting of The Little Mermaid is based on the magical Chateau de Chillon, an island castle located on Lake Geneva in Switzerland. The exterior of the castle was the inspiration for Prince Erics home.

8. Frozen - inspired by St Olafs Church, Norway
Animators of Frozen drew inspiration from various parts of Norway and Canada, but one main location is that of St. Olafs Church, the chapel where Queen Elsa was coronated.
