Sinn Féin Councillor Joe O’Neill, has welcomed the news that 800 sandbags have been earmarked for the Clonoe area.
Cllr O’Neill has held meetings with the Rivers Agency to press the need for the sandbags to help local residents and
protect them from further flooding.
Cllr O’Neill said, “These residents have been through hell and back in relation to flooding, to the extent that some residents can’t get home insurance. I am acutely aware that this is a huge issue for local residents given the recurrent problem and worked to use what influence I can in relation to flood prevention.
“It has now been agreed to store the sandbags in a container at the Clonoe Community Centre just a short distance from the affected housing estates and easily accessible when required.”
