Students and teachers at Sperrin Integrated College are celebrating another excellent year for GCSE examinations with the best results in the school’s history.
The outstanding results have increased to 80% of all pupils achieving grades in the A*-C range.
Within subject areas such as English Literature, Motor Vehicle Studies, and Polish 100% of pupils achieved the top grade of A*-C.
In History eleven pupils achieved the top A*-A grade.
There were many individual success stories including Charlie Clarke achieving 1 A*,6 A’s and 2 B’s, Nathan Lawrence achieving 2 A*,2 A’s and 3 B’s, India Hanna 5 A’s 2 B’s and 1 C, Andrew Stewart with 1 A*,2 A’s ,4 B’s and 1 C, and Klaudia Gorska achieving 1 A*3 A’s,4 B’s and 1 C.
Reflecting on the outstanding results, new Principal Mrs Heron said: “We are delighted with our pupils’ achievements today, which reflect their talents, combined with their hard work and motivation.
“Once again I want to pay a special tribute to all our staff at Sperrin for their tireless dedication to pupil achievement.”
Mrs Heron also wanted to thank all of the parents and the families of Sperrin pupils, whose invaluable support and work with the school ensures this high achievement.
“This partnership will continue as the majority of our young people progress onto Sixth Form,” Mrs Heron continued,
“Our opportunity to celebrate Individual pupil achievement will take place on Thursday September 15 for Senior Prize Night with guest Mrs Roisin Marshall Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Schools.”
The school held their enrolment for Sixth Form last week following the publication of the GCSE results.
