Clogher Valley butcher in UK final

A Clogher Valley butcher is celebrtating after being named as a finalist in the presitgious UK Farm Shop and Deli Awards.

Clogher Valley Meats, the only Northern Ireland finalist in the competition, will be competing for the top prize against Arthur Howell in Norfolk; Hopetoun Butchery in Edinburgh, Meat NW5 of London and Walter Rose & Son in Wiltshire.

Founded by Kieran Meehan in 1997, Clogher Valley Meats is situated in the main street of Clogher. The family run and award winning butchers

has been busy finalising preparations for the awards ceremony, which is described as the biggest showcase for Britain’s best food and drink prodcuers. The winner will be announced on Monday 18 April, in conjunction with Foodex.

Mr Meehan took the opportunity to thank his patrons for their support. “We are delighted to have reached the final of Farm Shop & Deli Awards 2016,” he said. “We have a great team here at Clogher Valley Meats and it is a big achievement for them, as it is for myself. But without our loyal customers, we wouldn’t be here in the final.”

The awards recognise the speciality retailers leading the sector in customer service, innovation and community involvement. The winner of the butchery category will then go against the winners of the 11 other categories to be named Retailer of the Year.
