Clonoe man who shouted ‘I’ll rape your ma’ avoids prison

A Clonoe man who told a member of the public in the carpark of a fast-food restaurant, “I’ll rape your ma’, has avoided being sent to prison after a Judge told him he was being given a final chance to “straighten out” his life.

Francis Devine, 23, Coney Park, encountered police outside McDonald’s in Dungannon in the early hours of January 23 after they were told the defendant had thrown a bottle at a car.

Dungannon Court heard Devine made the derogatory comment after standing in front of the car and refusing to move out of the way.

In an earlier incident, on November 28 last year, Devine made a rude finger gesture towards police while standing outside a taxi office in Coalisland. At the time, he was carrying a bottle of Buckfast and was staggering. A four-month prison sentence was suspended and fines of £300 were imposed.
