A series of dog disappearances and deaths has raised concerns among members of the farming community in the Brantry.
In recent weeks there have been reports of dogs being poisoned and others going missing from farms in the area.
In one case a healthy sheepdog suddenly became ill and was diagnosed as having been poisoned when its owner brought it to the vet.
Despite treatment the dog, a family pet, later died.
Rat poison, often found around farmyards, was ruled out as the cause of death.
One Brantry resident said the death of their dog, which had been roaming nearby hedges had caused the family a great deal of distress.
“This sort of thing used to happen a lot years ago in this area, and it has brought back bad memories”, said the householder.
