Mid Ulster District Council has announced the contractors to undertake the multi-million pound public realm schemes in Dungannon and Cookstown.

The work to create new paving, lighting, street furniture, signage and planting in Cookstown will be undertaken by FP McCann, while Lagan Construction Group are the contractors in Dungannon’s town centre.

Magherafelt will also benefit as part of the total £8M investment which is funded through the Department for Social Development (£4.5M) and Mid Ulster District Council (£3.5M), with contractors expected to be appointed for its scheme later this year.

“The appointment of contractors is a significant step in the process to deliver substantial investment in, and enhancement of Cookstown and Dungannon town centres,” said Councillor Linda Dillon, Chair of the Mid Ulster Council.

“We can now progress to the final design schemes and the companies can begin preparations to bring people and materials on site”, she went on to say.

“We will, as always, continue to engage with local people and businesses as the schemes develop”.
