Latest: Man, 27, faces drink-driving charge after ‘swerving across carriageway’ in Cookstown

Police have arrested and charged the 27-year-old driver they reported seeing “swerving across the [A29] carriageway” outside Cookstown in the early hours of this morning [August 11].

It was alleged on Cookstown PSNI’s Facebook page that the man was found to be “twice the legal limit” when they pulled him over.

He is due to appear before Dungannon Magistrates Court on September 2 and if convicted of “excess alcohol”, faces losing his licence and gaining a criminal record.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “A 27-year-old man was charged with excess alcohol to appear at Dungannon Magistrates Court on September 2.

“As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.”
