A Dungannon man who was involved in a two vehicle car crash on a narrow country road has been banned from the road for four months.
Miroslaw Swiejkowski (52) from Ardglena Court, was also fined £200 and ordered to pay an offender’s levy of £15 when he admitted driving without due care and attention at Kingarve Road, Dungannon, on May 7 this year.
A lawyer for the PPS said police attended the crash and found damage to the front of one car with the driver sustaining injuries to her chest. The court heard the second vehicle had been damaged at the front but the driver hadn’t been injured.
The lawyer said Swiejkowski’s car did not slow down and collided with the woman’s vehicle pushing her backwards and causing the vehicle to mount the grass verge.
The court heard he was travelling at 60mph.
Appearing in court with the aid of an interpreter, Swiejkowski, who is soon to leave Northern Ireland, said he intends to return in December.
Imposing the ban, District Judge John Meehan said it was ‘quite an achievement to drive into a car on a country road when the other car is coming towards you.’
