Dungannon artist showcased at major Dublin charity auction

In what is being billed as one of the most important art sales of the year in Dublin, Dungannon artist and photographer Marty Cullen has produced a large portrait of Irish literary giant Samuel Beckett.

The auction at the Thomas Prior House of Bewley’s of Dublin is on Saturday 6th July 2013, Mealy’s Fine Art of Kilkenny - one of Ireland’s leading art houses is teaming up with the Irish Charity - SCOOP - Saving Children out of Poverty. 50% of all the hammer prices will go to building a new primary school in India and to maintain an existing school in Cambodia.

Some of the biggest names in Irish art have contributed pieces and the Dungannon artist is delighted to have being approached to participate. The portrait entitled ‘It’s Mister Beckett Sir’ is now installed in the La Scala Theatre Cafe at the Ranfurly Arts Centre, where it can be seen for three weeks prior to being moved to Bewley’s of Ballsbridge for the launch of the sale.

Marty Cullen is very eager to emphasise the work of SCOOP and hopes viewers who see the portrait of Beckett will make a donation to the charity or maybe be tempted to bid for the work - Mealy’s of Kilkenny will gladly facilitate on line bids as well as the normal in house bidding.
