A Dungannon man, due to stand trial on child pornography charges, has been accused of breaching his bail after he was found with a laptop.

Cathal Hughes, 59, from Beechvalley, is charged with counts of possessing indecent images of children, as well as making/taking indecent images of children, with a trial date set for next month in the case.

However, at court on Wednesday, Hughes appeared in the dock on a charge of breaching his bail conditions.

A police officer said a PSNI patrol saw Hughes outside his home the night previous, carrying a black plastic bag. When asked about the bag, Hughes appeared “quite nervous and agitated” and a laptop was discovered inside.

Another laptop as well as mobile phones and a camera were found inside Hughes’ house. Bail was revoked and Hughes was remanded in custody.
