Dungannon-based firm Westland Horticulture has been revealed as the main sponsors for the Garden Village at this year’s Balmoral Show.
The theme of this year’s display at Balmoral is edible gardens, with a polytunnel erected and filled with produce providing a visually interesting and informative display for the general public.
The Garden Village at Balmoral Show provides a dedicated area for green fingered enthusiasts and is set to provide more spectacle with the exciting addition of the edible gardens.
Keith Nicholson, Marketing Director for Westland Horticulture said: “Westland was founded 25 years ago in Northern Ireland and since then we’ve become one of the biggest garden manufacturers in the UK and Ireland.
“We’re delighted to be pledging our support to the Balmoral Show. This year’s theme, the Year of Food and Drink fits really well with our brands, Gro-Sure and Unwins and Marshalls Seeds.
“It’s our aim to get more people growing and enjoying their own home-grown produce.”
Last year, Westland announced the creation of 70 new jobs in a £9.6m expansion of its business.
Westland Horticulture manufactures and supplies gardening products to retailers and currently employs 238 people in Dungannon.
The firm has built a new fertiliser manufacturing plant in the town and is investing in new machinery and staff training programmes.
As well as its base in Dungannon, Westland Horticulture has three production plants in Great Britain, another in Germany and a sales office in Poland.
