South Tyrone Hospital Community Forum (STHCF) is urging people to have their say on the future of local health services at a public meeting next Wednesday, 10 March.
The Forum is inviting the public to share their views and get behind efforts to protect the healthcare provision at the event which takes place at 8pm in Dungannon Council Offices.
Ethne McCord, Outgoing Chair of STHCF, said: “It’s vital that people come together to ensure we have the health care that we so badly need for this area. The Forum continues to play a role in challenging the decisions taken by the Southern Trust and the Local Commissioning Group which have led to consolidation of important services in the eastern part of the Trust area.”
Mrs McCord, who confirmed her retirement as Chair, added: ““We are particularly pleased that the Minor Injury Unit is now the busiest one in the UK, with numbers increasing all the time, but we cannot afford to be complacent especially with all budgets coming under severe pressure. I would appeal to those people who are interested in keeping health care services locally, to join the Forum and attend the public meeting on Wednesday, 11th March in the Council Offices at 8pm.”
Mrs McCord said she made the decision “for family reasons”, and said new members would help to bring “fresh enthusiasm” and “smart ideas”.
