Mid Ulster Council has instigated a review of the troubled town centre improvements carried out under the Public Realm Scheme.
At December’s monthly meeting of the Environment Committee, councillors decided to seek a consultant design team to review the current arrangements and make recommendations as regards options for improvement.
Since the £2m town revamp was completed a March 2015, aggrieved residents and traders have complained to the council about problems regarding car parking, traffic snarl ups and pedestrian access.
According to the environment committee, the design team will identify options to implement improvements at Market Square. The financial cost of the overhaul has not been determined.
