The Dungannon and Moy branch of the Royal British Legion Dungannon are preparing to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday by lighting a beacon at Dungannon Royal School.

The celebratory event will be held on Thursday, April 21 at 7.30pm.

Ulster Unionist Assembly candidate Alastair Patterson praised the efforts of the members of the Royal British Legion and called on the public to come out and show their support at the event.

“I am delighted that both Dungannon & Enniskillen have decided to hold these events as the Queen’s 90th birthday as a real landmark in history, these beacons in the most westerly part of the United Kingdom are an occasion for everyone in the community to celebrate as it is such a unique and special event,” said the election hopeful.

“I am grateful for the leading role that the Royal British Legion have played in organising the event, The Royal School, Dungannon for hosting the lighting of the beacon and the help of Vice Lord Lieutenant, Mr Pat Killen.

Mr Patterson added: “I hope that the general public will show their support for the longest reigning monarch in history.”
