A man charged with driving without due care and attention and failing to give particulars at the scene of an accident has been fined by East Tyrone Magistrates Court.
Andrius Januskevicius, 28, of Avenue Road, Lurgan pleaded guilty to both charges at Dungannon Magistrates Court.
A court heard how police received a report of a damage only road traffic accident on Tullyvar Road, Aughnacloy. The accident involved two vehicles and there were no reports of any persons injured as a result of the accident.
It was reported to police by the driver of the other vehicle that the defendant had failed to give his insurance details or address at the scene.
The defendant then voluntarily attended Dungannon Police Station where he admitted he had failed to give his details at the scene and said “that is wasn’t a good idea to overtake at a junction.”
District Judge John Meehan imposed a fine of £150 for the charge of driving without due care and attention and endorsed Mr Januskevicius’ licence with 4 penalty points.
He also fined him £100 for failing to give his details at the scene of the accident plus a further £15 offender levy to the court.
