Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that a £250,000 road improvements scheme for Mullaghmore Road, between Dungannon and Donaghmore, is well underway and on schedule for completion on Wednesday 1 April.
Improvements include resurfacing of a 1,450 metre stretch and reconstruction of the adjacent footpaths, commencing at the junction with Tullycullion Road and extending towards Dungannon.
Danny Kennedy said: “Some of the benefits for drivers will include an improved running surface and a reduction in surface defects.”
Whilst the Department’s resource budget for activities such as routine maintenance is severely reduced, funding for this scheme is from the capital budget for major projects and new road schemes which is less affected by the current pressures.
To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors, traffic management is in place. Most of the work will require lane closure’s, however, for the final stages of the scheme an unavoidable closure of the road will be required between 8am and 8pm from Monday 30 March to Wednesday 1 April.
Local access will be maintained and well signposted diversions via Tullycullion Road, Cookstown Road, Quarry Lane and Mullaghmore Road , will be in place.
As with all scheme of this type, the scheduled dates are subject to favourable weather conditions.
