A 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attempted abduction of a child in Coagh on Wednesday.

On Friday, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating a report of a suspicious approach to a child in the Coagh area on Wednesday, May 28th, have arrested a 55-year-old man.

“He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.”

Police said the child was playing outside the family home at 5.45pm on the Drumenny Road, when a car drove into the driveway, and a male got out of car and grabbed the child’s arm.

The child’s mother came out, and the man got into the car and drove off.
