A terminally ill Coalisland mum has returned home after travelling to the US for potentially life saving treatment in her battle against cancer.

Friends and strangers in their hundreds helped Lisa Toner raise more than £20,000 through Go Fund Me in order to fly to California.

However, the mum of three contracted an infection shortly after arriving in the States, and supporters of her appeal rushed to raise money to fly her family out to be with her.

But Lisa has managed to beat the odds once again and on Friday afternoon told all her wellwishers and friends: “Glad to say home sweet home!”

The 31 year-old added: “So sorry iv been a bit quiet with the updates, am sure most of u realise iv been unwell!!”

Lisa said she was looking forward to attending a special fundraising event organised by her friends Lisa Maguire, Justine McMahon and Stephanie Davidson in her honour at Hagan’s Bar on Friday night.

Lisa Toner was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2013, shortly after giving birth to her son.

Despite initially responding well to chemotherapy, Lisa was told earlier this year that the cancer was more aggressive than was first thought.
