The young musician wowed the crowd and judges in The Quays, Galway with his impressive take on the popular Avicii hit ‘Wake Me Up’ which he performed in Irish followed by his mentor Johnny Brady’s well-known hit ‘Chicken Fried’.

Praising Barry’s performance, one of the judges said: “All I would say is, Garth Brooks watch your back!”

With another of the judges saying his performance was: “Really strong, and very interesting Barry, very edgy.”

Speaking to the TIMES ahead of Wednesday night’s final, Barry said he was ‘still in shock’.

“I still can’t believe it, I am still in shock. When they called out my name I was actually clapping thinking it was someone else, I didn’t realise straight away.”

Barry said the support he has received from everyone has been ‘unbelievable’, “I really can’t believe the support, unfortunately I probably won’t get to thank every person individually but I really appreciate that they have got me this far.

“I’m just going to go down on Wednesday night and enjoy it, Johnny is coming down to the final and one way or another we will all be celebrating.”

Barry will now battle it out on Wednesday night against his two competitors Michael Collins and Farrah Bogle to see who will be crowned Glor Tire Winner 2014.

The winner of the competition will enjoy a 10 day holiday to Portugal which Barry said he will probably give to his mum, “I will probably give it to her to enjoy as me and dad will probably by gigging I might not get the chance to go, so she might as well enjoy it,” he said.

Voting lines are open now so make sure and text GLOR 5 to 60999 to vote for Barry before noon on Wednesday.
