Police have again urged members of the public to “be wary of cold callers to their home” after a Dungannon resident was duped by a well-dressed person selling knives.
Inspector Keith Jamieson said: “We’ve had a report that someone was in the Errigal Road area of south Tyrone on November 20 selling knives. It was reported that a householder was duped.
“We are aware of callers to your home may be genuine but we are asking members of the public to always check their credentials and don’t feel pressured into buying goods or services.
“The seller on this occasion was described as well-dressed with tanned skin, late 50s or 60s.
“If anyone has any information could they contact Dungannon Police on the 101 number, quoting reference number 637201115. Alternatively information about crime can be passed via the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
