The Women’s World Day of Prayer service for the Dungannon area was held in St. Elizabeth’s Church of Ireland, Moygashel on Friday, March 3.

This year the service had been prepared by the Christian women in the Philippines and the theme was “Am I being Unfair to you?”

The congregation were encouraged to consider that, given that the world’s wealth is unevenly distributed, Christians are challenged to work together to spread a local and global culture of economic and social justice, friendship, care and compassion.

The speaker was Mrs Andrea Kelly, who has travelled several times to the Philippines to spend time with friends who work in a church in Manila, and spoke about the contrasts which exist in this country.

The service was led by Mrs Michelle Doran and the readers included participants from the various churches in the Dungannon area: Linda Watt; Marie McArdle; Claire McArdle; Victoria Thompson; Kathryn Doran; Glynnis McKevitt; Sadie Houston; Janet Kells; Suzette Meeke and Rowena Emerson.

Mrs Doreen Burnett played the organ and Mrs Siobhan O’Neill was the soloist and performed two solos as well as leading the praise.

The Dungannon Committee is very grateful to the Rector of Drumglass Parish for the use of St Elizabeth’s Church for the service and the hall for refreshments afterwards.
