A late penalty was the difference between the teams as Dungannon Tigers surrendered their Wilson cup title to league and cup favourites Valley Rangers at Bignian park on Saturday.
The Kilkeel outfit took the lead on eight minutes when Graham nipped in to slide the ball under the advancing McReynolds.
The Tigers grew into the game and a superb 30 yard effort from Sean Anthony Burns brought the score level. Nathan Martin put the Tigers in front before half time to give the Tyrone men a deserved lead.
Fifteen minutes into the second period Valley were back on an equal footing when a Rangers corner wasn’t cleared and the ball was poked home into the Tigers net.
The game remained in the balance until the 81st minute when the Tigers conceded a penalty and Valley made no mistake to go 3-2 ahead. In the dying seconds, as the Tigers tried desperately to hold onto their crown, Rangers broke away and scored a fourth to seal the win.
The Tigers have ten league games remaining and a sustained title push is now the order of the day beginning with league Struggler’s Seagoe visiting the Joe McAree Stadium on Saturday.
Training continues on Wednesday evening at 6.45 pm at Joe McAree Stadium.
