Warrenpoint Town knocked Ards out of the League Cup in extra-time, with John McGuigan bagging a hat-trick.
Warrenpoint took a fully deserved lead in the 17th minute when John McGuigan made no mistake from around 15 yards.
Ards came to life in the last 20 minutes when Michael Ruddy headed the ball across goal from a corner before Guillaume Keke bundled the ball home from a yard.
Warrenpoint re-established their lead in the second minute of extra time. Tiernan Mulvenna’s header saw Hogg make a fine save, but McGuigan reacted quickly to turn home the rebound for 2-1.
Just when it looked like Ards were on their way out, Keke equalised in the 103rd minute. A Craig McMillen cross was dropped by goalkeeper Maguire and the Frenchman hooked the ball into the unguarded net in emphatic fashion.
It was 3-2 to Warrenpoint in the 112th minute when lousy Ards defended allowed McGuigan to waltz through on goal and complete his hat-trick.
Conor McMenamin added a fourth in the 119th minute from close range as Ards pushed on for an equaliser.
