Tyrone minors made the short trip to Clontibret to play Monaghan in second fixture of All Ireland C shield championship and won 3-2 to 1-4.

Tyrone were buoyed by their big win over Donegal and Monaghan had an away win over Wicklow, the home taking the lead within five minutes from just in front goal.

Monaghan were awarded a lot of frees but Tyrone held strong, Orla Donnelly clearing her lines on many occasions.

Catherine Muldoon got Tyrone’s first point with a sublime pass from Niamh Forker. Maebh Maxwell made goal-line clearances to stay level.

On 25 minutes Monaghan found the net, Roisin O’Sullivan bursting through, Monaghan 1-1 Tyrone 0-1.

Monaghan began the second half with a quick point, Roisin McErlean on free duty to pull a point back from 45m.

Monaghan captain Hannah McSkeane extended the lead, but Casey Gallagher sent a rasping shot past the Monaghan goal keeper to leave a single point in it on 20 minutes.

With three minutes left and Monaghan a point further to the good, McErlean found free space to put the visitors ahead Cara Little immediately netting for a valuable win.

Tyrone host Wicklow in last group tie on March 26.
