A resilient Dungannon team was made to work hard as they held off a strong challenge from Monaghan’s Sliabh Beagh in their first home Aquasprints gala of the season.

A capacity crowd in Dungannon Leisure Centre was given a real treat as swimmers from both teams went toe-to-toe over 40 pulsating races.

At no stage during the competition was there any more than a handful of points between the sides and it wasn’t until the last freestyle events that a winner began to emerge.

Team manager Veronica Weir paid tribute to both teams on an excellent and friendly gala.

Head coach Eamonn Goodwin was pleased with the win and particularly the performances of the younger swimmers.

Next up is a PTL gala at home to Larne on 24 January. The Aquasprint team is away to Cookstown on 9th May, witha date for the Lurgan gala will be finalised before then.
